The shaft seal assembly is the primary barrier between the pump’s wet end and its motor. When the seal wears or fails, water migrates along the shaft toward the motor bearings — leading to accelerated bearing wear and eventual motor failure. Replacing the seal kit at the first sign of leakage at the pump body protects the motor and restores a watertight drive assembly.
